Add Étude to Claude.

Étude runs inside your own claude.ai account as a connector. It takes about a minute, you keep your own Claude account, and you can remove it in the same place you added it.

Before you start
  • Any Claude plan works. Custom connectors are available on Claude's Free, Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise plans. You do not need to pay for Claude to use Étude.
  • On Claude's Free plan you can have one custom connector at a time. If you already have one, Claude will not let you add Étude until you remove it. That is a limit on your Claude account, not on Étude — and it is a different thing from Étude's own Free plan.
  • On Team and Enterprise, an Owner adds it once. Everyone else then connects and enables it on their own account. If you are not an Owner, ask one to add it before you start.

These are Claude's rules rather than ours, and they can change. Claude's help centre on custom connectors →

Adding the connector

Seven steps, once.

  1. Open claude.ai and sign in.

Étude lives inside your Claude account, so you need one first. Everything below happens in Claude, not here.

  2. Open your connector settings.

In Claude, open Settings and find Connectors. Claude moves its menus from time to time; if the wording has changed, look for the screen that lists the apps and services connected to your account.

  3. Choose to add a custom connector.

Étude is not in Claude's connector directory yet, so it is added by URL rather than picked from a list. That is what the custom-connector option is for. If Claude will not let you add one, re-read “Before you start” above — on the Free plan you can only have one at a time.

  4. Name it exactly this.
    Etude

Plain letters, no accent — Etude, not Étude. The accented spelling has been observed to stop Claude picking the tools up, so the connector installs and then does nothing. If you already named it with the accent, rename it here.

  5. Paste this connector URL.
    https://api.etudeapp.ai/functions/v1/mcp

Nothing else goes in the other fields. Étude does not need a client ID or a secret from you.

  6. Add it, then connect it.

Claude opens Étude's sign-in. Continue with Google, Apple, or your email address, then approve the access Claude asks for. You land back in Claude when it is done — there is nothing to finish on our side.

  7. Check that it worked.

Start a new chat and ask Claude to set up your semester. Étude's tools appear in the conversation and the setup walkthrough opens. If they do not, see below.

If Étude's tools do not appear
  • Refresh the connector from the same Connectors screen. That is enough after we ship an update — you do not need to remove it and add it again.
  • Check the name is the plain Etude, with no accent. This is the single most common cause.
  • Ask for what you want directly — “set up my semester in Etude” rather than “help me study”. Which tool Claude reaches for is its own judgement, and being specific helps it choose.
What Étude can and cannot see

Étude uses the Google Calendar, Drive, and Classroom connections that already live in your Claude account. It never asks for passwords and never signs in to anything on your behalf. No connector is required to use it.
